What is Breast Lift Surgery?
Breast lift surgery raises breasts that have become saggy due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, aging and gravity and thus creates a more youthful appearance.
Preparing for Surgery
- Online and in-person consultations will be made to examine the patient, assess the medical history and to discuss the patient's expectations.
- The doctor will make note of allergies, chronic diseases and regular medications used by the patient.
- Blood tests will be carried out before the operation.
- The anesthesist will have a consultation with the patient.
- Patients must stop taking Aspirin and all other blood thinners, Omega 3 supplements and herbal teas.
- Some antidepressants may tend to cause bleeding. Patients should inform the surgeon of all regular medications taken.
- Breast ultrasounds and mammography should be conducted before surgery.
The Surgical Process
The surgical technique to be used will be decided specifically for each patient's unique case by the surgeon. The incision may be made through the nipple area, vertically or in T-shape. The main aim is to reposition the nipples at the desired level.
The operation is performed under general anethesia and lasts for around 3 hours.
The Post-Operative Process
- After the operation patients may be discharged the same day or require 1 night admission in the hospital.
- Numbness due to swelling after the operation is normal.
- Pain after surgery will be manageable with painkillers.
- The breasts will be wrapped with dressing or a bandage and you will wear a sports bra after the dressing has been removed.
- You may get back to work 3-5 days after surgery.
- The surgeon will be available for online and in-person consultations after the surgery for necessary follow-ups.
