What is a Face Lift?

Face lift is cosmetic surgery to tighten and pull back facial skin and underlying tissues to provide a smooth and rejuvenated appearance of the face. Face lift is so effective against wrinkly, sagging and aging skin that patients after the operation look considerably younger by 12 years on average. For a more harmonious and well-rounded look, facelift may be combined with other procedures like neck lift, brow lift and eyelid lift.

Preparing for Surgery

1. Online and in-person consultations will be made to examine the patient, assess the medical history and to discuss the patient's expectations.
2. The doctor will make note of allergies, chronic diseases and regular medications used by the patient.
3. Blood tests will be carried out before the operation.
4. The anesthesist will have a consultation with the patient.
5. The patient should quit smoking and avoid alcohol a few weeks before surgery.
6. Patients must stop taking Aspirin and all other blood thinners, Omega 3 supplements and herbal teas.

The Surgical Process

For facelift surgery, incisions are made starting from patient's hairline around the ear and end later behind the ear. It is crucial for tissues under the skin to be successfully tightened so that the surface of the skin looks smooth as butter.

Facelift is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 4-6 hours.

The Post-Operative Process

• Drains may be in place for a brief time after surgery.
• Swelling and bruising are normal after surgery.
• Stitches will be removed on 10 days after the operation.
• You may get back to work 2 weeks after surgery.
• The surgeon will be available for online and in-person consultations after the surgery for necessary follow-ups.
