What is a Neck Lift?

Besides facelift, neck lift is at the top of the list for plastic surgeries most frequently performed to reverse the aging process. However younger patients may also prefer to undergo neck lift due to various physiological changes that may necessitate surgery. Preparing for Surgery

  1. Online and in-person consultations will be made to examine the patient, assess the medical history and to discuss the patient's expectations.
  2. The doctor will make note of allergies, chronic diseases and regular medications used by the patient.
  3. Blood tests will be carried out before the operation.
  4. The anesthesist will have a consultation with the patient.
  5. The patient should quit smoking and avoid alcohol a few weeks before surgery.
  6. Patients must stop taking Aspirin and all other blood thinners, Omega 3 supplements and herbal teas.

The Surgical Process

According to the severity of the neck's deformities, patient's age and gender, various methods are used. Although neck lifts usually accompany facelift surgery, it can also be performed individually.

The incision starts from the front of the ear across the hairline, sagging and loose muscle structure is tightened and excess fat tissue and skin are removed.

It can be performed under general or local anesthesia and most patients can return home the same day. The operation takes 2-3 hours.

The Post-Operative Process

  • Drains may be in after surgery.
  • Swelling and bruising are expected after surgery.
  • Stitches will be removed around 7 days after the operation.
  • You may get back to work 1-2 weeks after surgery.
